When: Thursday, December 05, 2024
Where: Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana
Time: 9:00 AM ET

The Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge is a thrilling high school program that allows students to discover the benefits and challenges of investing in the stock market as a broader, long-term investment strategy and the risks and rewards of trading.

The program includes three 45-minute classroom-based sessions from our JA Take Stock in Your Future curriculum that will prepare students for our optional, on-site Stock Market Challenge simulation on December 5th, 2024, 9:00am-1:00pm.

Event Details:
Using a simulated trading environment, teams of 3-4 players will be given $500,000 to invest in over 35 fictitious stocks (based on real-life companies) and experience the fast-paced thrill of the stock exchange.

Once the opening bell is rung, the market opens, and every 60-90 seconds is a new trading day! Each day brings news through “Hot Tips” and “News Releases” from the financial markets, challenging teams to evaluate trends make trades, buy, and sell shares.

The team with the highest ROI at the end of 60 days will be crowned the JA Stock Market Champion! Prizes will be given to the top teams. This event will also include special event speakers.

With the help of generous sponsors, this event is free for schools to attend, and transportation and lunch will be provided.

Information for Educators:
Registration is limited and spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Teams are encouraged to register by September 30th, 2024.

Sessions 1-3 of JA Take Stock in Your Future should be completed prior to attending the Stock Market Challenge event. Curriculum and materials are provided by JA and can be educator led or taught by community volunteers from the world of finance.

Stock Market Challenge

Stress is often one of life’s greatest teachers. Few things rival the stress of being on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. DCSD students from six different schools experienced a simulation that tested their ability to perform under pressure at the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge. Transcript
