Junior Achievement 75th Anniversary

On Tuesday, September 10th representatives from Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana, City of Louisville, Greater Louisville Inc, One Southern Indiana, and The Chamber of St. Matthews will gathered at 1401 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Louisville, KY, for a ribbon cutting to celebrate their 75-year anniversary.
Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana is dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA programs are delivered by corporate and community volunteers, and provide relevant, hands-on experiences that give youth from kindergarten through post-high school knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship.
In 1949, the original programs consisted of the JA Company program where students met with JA volunteer advisers to form an after-school enterprise. They elected officers, created a product or service, to own and operate a company. In early 2000, Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana opened the James W. Robinson Junior Achievement for Freedom of Enterprise at 14th and Muhammad Ali and made the commitment to serve all students in the region five times in their school careers. JA uses classroom lessons taught by volunteers and teachers, as well as hands-on experiences at Sam Swope JA BizTown®, Chase JA Finance Park® and JA Inspire® to help young people understand the economics of life.
In 2022, JA of Kentuckiana has expanded its scope to serve youth in our community after high school and begun partnering with non-profit organizations to provide tailored JA programs for the youth they serve each day outside the traditional classroom.
Since 1949, the organization has reached 1,508,757 students in the Kentuckiana region with these programs for the past 75 years at a minimum cost to the educators and students in the community! Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana is stronger than ever with a team of twelve full-time and twelve part-time who reach over 54,000 Kentuckiana youth and raised the largest operating funds ever at 2.1 million dollars.
Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana is on a path to continue to strengthen their partnerships, provide deeper impactful programs, and funding to be able to provide this thanks to their donors, educators, volunteers, and businesses.
