Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana is excited to announce a new partnership with Canopy, a non-profit based in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood, as part of the JA BizTown program. Canopy has worked alongside Junior Achievement as a key collaborator, creating a program within JA BizTown that allows students to certifying all BizTown companies to ensure they make conscious decisions that benefit their employees, the community, and the environment.
Scott Koloms, President of Canopy, shared, "Our certification program is designed to help businesses make a positive impact while celebrating their success in fostering sustainability and community-focused practices. We're excited to inspire the next generation to understand the importance of this mission."
JA BizTown combines in-classroom learning with a day-long visit to a fully interactive, simulated town, where elementary school students take on various roles such as bankers, restaurant managers, and even the mayor. The program provides hands-on lessons in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Since opening its doors in 2004, JA BizTown has reached over 221,000 students in the Kentuckiana region, helping to prepare the next generation of responsible business leaders.
“We are thrilled to have Canopy as our newest non-profit partner in JA BizTown,” said Jennifer Helgeson, President of Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana. “It is so important for kids to learn how businesses can impact the community beyond just providing goods or services—by making decisions that support their team members, the environment, and their local communities.”
