Financial literacy is essential for opportunity, independence, and long-term success, yet many students, especially in economically disadvantaged communities, lack access to effective financial education. The U.S. Bank Foundation is addressing this gap through Finance Park, a hands-on learning experience designed to prepare students for real-world financial decision-making.
In schools with high percentages of economically disadvantaged students, financial literacy education is often insufficient, leaving young people unprepared to budget, save, and manage credit. The urgency for effective financial education continues to rise, particularly as Kentucky now requires students to meet financial literacy standards for graduation. Educators are seeking engaging, interactive programs like JA Finance Park that make financial concepts relevant.
JA Finance Park simulates real-world situations in which students take on careers and manage personal finances. This experiential learning builds confidence, problem-solving skills, and practical knowledge, empowering students to make informed financial choices.
The U.S. Bank-funded program has already demonstrated measurable impact, serving 262 middle school students from economically disadvantaged schools during the 2025–2026 school year and exceeding initial goals. In 2026–2027, the Foundation aims to expand access to this vital financial education by supporting 350 students.
Ultimately, JA Finance Park builds students’ confidence and capability, equipping them with the skills to navigate their financial futures and strengthen their communities through informed decision-making.
