JA of Kentuckiana is excited to announce the new Jefferson County Public Schools, dedicated storefront at JA BizTown in Louisville, providing hands-on, simulated career and financial literacy experiences. The storefront, featuring a kid superintendent, offers interactive roles, allowing elementary students to connect classroom lessons to real-world business operations.
JA BizTown is a simulated town where students step into the roles of citizens, employees, and leaders while operating a fully functioning economy. The new JCPS storefront enhances this experience by immersing students in the inner workings of a public school district, helping them better understand how education systems operate and how leadership, teamwork, and financial decision-making intersect in the real world.

At the heart of the storefront is a student-led leadership model, featuring a kid superintendent alongside supporting roles that mirror those found within a real school district. Students are responsible for managing daily operations, making budget decisions, collaborating with peers, and solving challenges.
“We are thankful for our longstanding partnership with Jefferson County Public Schools, and we are excited for students to learn about the many industries and career pathways represented throughout JCPS,” said Jennifer Helgeson, Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana President.
The partnership between JCPS and JA BizTown reflects a shared commitment to preparing students for future success. By combining experiential learning with meaningful career exposure, the program helps students envision pathways they may not have previously considered; particularly careers in education, administration, and public service.
Families, educators, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening on March 25, marking an important milestone in JCPS’s ongoing efforts to deliver innovative, student-centered learning experiences. The storefront will serve thousands of students each year, providing impactful lessons that extend far beyond the classroom.
